Canada and Lille star Jonathan David has revealed his dream transfer destination in a major blow to Arsenal and other Premier League sides.

David has made a name for himself in Ligue 1 in recent seasons, having joined Lille in 2020 and going onto score 107 goals in 224 games and establish himself as one of the league’s best forwards.

His form has put a number of top sides on red alert for his services, including Arsenal – who are on the hunt for a forward this summer – and other Premier League sides.

It has been David’s Champions League performances that have increased interest in his services, with the 25-year-old netting seven goals in the competition plus two in qualifying to go alongside his 14 league strikers.

Those showings, which have left him near the top of the highest scorers charts for the competition alongside the likes of Raphinha, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane, helped Lille reach the play-offs against Borussia Dortmund, where they lost 3-2 on aggregate.

Some Premier League sides had been interested in a move for David in the summer, with Arsenal thought to be on red alert, but he has now revealed his ideal destination – and it’s not England.

Speaking to the It’s Called Soccer podcast, the forward said: ‘I think I can adapt to every league. Every league has its differences.

‘The Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than all of the other leagues. But for me, I grew up watching a lot of LaLiga and for me, that would be my preferred league.

‘That is the league that I enjoyed watching the most so one day I would like to play there.’

David had previously revealed that he had wanted to play for Barcelona in the future.

While he would have cost a pretty penny for any side looking to do business with Lille, his contract with the French club is up in the summer, meaning he can agree a pre-contract deal with any other European side.

That could increase the chances of Barcelona signing him if they ae interested in a move, with the LaLiga leaders struggling financially in recent years.

According to Get French Football News, the likes of West Ham, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been interested in his services in the past.
