Wolves have had a €15million (£12.5m) bid rejected for Udinese defender Thomas Kristensen.

Vitor Pereira’s side have been keen to strengthen in defence in the transfer window after a difficult first half of the season, with Ivory Coast centre back Emmanuel Agbadou their only addition so far having arrived from Reims for £16.5m.

They were hoping to bring in Lens star Kevin Danso after agreeing a loan move with an option to buy, but Tottenham hijacked their move, while they had also been linked with a sensational swoop for former club captain Conor Coady.

Wolves’ attentions turned to Kristensen, but with time running out until the window shuts, the club’s initial £12.5m offer was turned down by the Serie A outfit.

Mail Sport understands that a second bid is unlikely, with Reims’ Marshall Munetsi and Red Star Belgrade’s Nasser Djiga expected to arrive at Molineux on deadline day.

Kristensen, who has gained rave reviews since joining Udinese in 2023, has been linked with several clubs this month.

Mail Sport understands that Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli held talks  with Kristensen’s camp over a move, but the Italian giants have since signed Chelsea defender Renato Veiga, while they are also set to add Newcastle’s Lloyd Kelly.

Kristensen was also on Tottenham’s shortlist in their search for defensive additions, while Leicester had been keen on the 23-year-old.

Kristensen made his professional breakthrough with Danish side AGF, the club where Jack Wilshere ended his career, before earning his move to Udinese in 2023.

The centre back has been a regular feature in Denmark’s youth teams, racking up 11 caps for their Under 21 side – and is under contract in Italy until the summer of 2028.
