Ruben Amorim has warned that Marcus Rashford must change if he wants to salvage his Manchester United career.
Rashford will miss his 12th game in a row when United face Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League on Thursday night as uncertainty continues to hang over his future at Old Trafford.
Amorim insists he doesn’t hold a grudge against the 27-year-old, but won’t bring Rashford in from the cold until he changes his attitude.
‘Our team should be so much better with Rashford, but Rashford has to change,’ said United’s head coach.
‘If he changes, we would more than welcome a talent like Rashford – and we need him. We need goals, we need one against one, we need a threat in the final third.
‘But in this moment, I think it’s really clear we have to set some standards, that’s all. We are waiting for Marcus if he wants it really, really bad. That’s the only thing.

‘You try to make it something personal, but it’s not personal. It’s nothing against Marcus.
‘I just have to make the same rules for everybody. That for me is so simple, it’s always the same message.
‘We are a better team with Marcus Rashford, that is clear. He is a big talent. But until the right moment I will not change my mind.’
Amorim defended his comments after United won at Fulham on Sunday when he said that he would pick his goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital than Rashford.
‘The situation is the same for every player,’ he added.
‘The last time I talked about that after the last game, my sentence was that I will not put (in) any player that doesn’t give the maximum. I didn’t say I won’t put (in) Marcus Rashford.
‘It’s the same situation. When I feel it is the right moment, I will put any player to play.
‘You can look at our team and match the profile of the players. Now imagine a talent like Rashford.’

Rashford has been strongly linked with leaving Man United during the winter transfer window

Amorim claimed he would rather play 63-year-old goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital than Rashford
Rashford was seen cracking a smile when he trained with the rest of the squad on Wednesday morning, with Mail Sport in attendance.
But in spite of this Amorim chose to leave Rashford back in Manchester, just days after he suggested he would rather play 63-year-old Vital than bring Rashford back into the fold.
There are plenty of clubs interested in signing Rashford on loan this month but with a handful of days left many of them are struggling to reach an agreement.
