Thousands of fans in the O2 Arena made their feelings towards Red Bull principal Christian Horner known on Tuesday night.

The team boss took centre stage for the unveiling of what Red Bull hope will be their latest title-winning car at the special Formula One 75th anniversary event.

All 10 teams provided a first glimpse of their liveries ahead of the new F1 season, with much attention given to the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes after off-season reshuffles.

And while most received a warm reception, there was a much less friendly tone for those associated with the Austrian manufacturer, especially its principal.

Footage circulating on social media shows the moment the 51-year-old was savagely booed by thousands in attendance at the event.

Horner did his best to ignore the dissent as he battled through his speech while alone on stage.

The reaction was the second awkward moment of the night for Horner, after host Jack Whitehall described him as former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell’s plus one, with his wife also in attendance at the live event.

Furthermore, reigning world champion Max Verstappen was also subjected to boos by the crowd.

Asked about his rival Lewis Hamilton’s chances over the coming 12 months having switched from Mercedes to Ferrari for minimally £50million a year, the Dutchman said: ‘It is almost like he is reborn after a long time at one team.’

Another group to receive a frosty reception from the crowd was the FIA following a series of unpopular decisions, including new ‘swearing rules’ set to be introduced next season.
