Chelsea have boosted their squad with the addition of a £15million player, according to reports.

After a busy summer that saw the Blues sign 13 players, Enzo Maresca’s side have had a bright first half of the season.

The west London club currently sit fourth in the Premier League table and are into the next round of the Conference League.

And Chelsea’s squad looks set to be strengthened just 48 hours before the January transfer window opens.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Argentinian defender Aaron Anselmino is set to be recalled from his loan spell with Boca Juniors prematurely.

The 19-year-old joined Chelsea from the South American club for £15m in June and was loaned back immediately for a year.

Anselmino will fly back to London next week and join Maresca’s squad with immediate effect.

The teenager made 18 appearances for Boca Juniors across all competitions in 2024 but has been hampered by injuries.

He missed 11 games due to a hamstring problem before returning to fitness in August.

Anselmino suffered the same injury last month and his immediate availability for Chelsea is not known.

Once he returns to fitness, he will compete with the likes of Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile and Tosin Adarabioyo for a starting spot.

Maresca’s side will seek to return to winning ways after Sunday’s defeat by Fulham when they visit Ipswich on Monday.
