A former Arsenal defender is reportedly set to be dismissed from his managerial position following his side’s result in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Besiktas slumped to a 3-1 defeat to Maccabi Tel Aviv at home, continuing their run of poor form this season.
And it looks to be the end of the road for Van Bronckhorst, who only took charge of the club in June.
Turkish reporter Ertan Suzgun of Play Sport tweeted on Friday: ‘Besiktaş Board of Directors will meet today regarding the situation of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
‘The Dutch coach is parting ways. The official announcement will be made shortly.’
Speaking after Thursday,’s game, Van Bronckhurst admitted a feeling of sadness.

He said: ‘I am not living the best moments of my life. I have lived worse moments as a coach. I am someone who does not give up. I will do my best to change this situation.’
He added: ‘It was a very sad match. It is disappointing for all of us, and for me too… I am not performing well.
‘There will be criticism at these moments. This is football.
‘I said before the match that I feel the support of the management. I do not know if this will change after this match.’
Van Bronckhorst, who previously managed Rangers, was already under huge pressure with his side having failed to win any of their previous six league matches.

That run has left them sixth in the league, already 13 points adrift of leaders Galatasaray.
Thursday’s defeat also leaves the Turkish outfit just one point above the Europa League elimination zone.
