Manchester United fans vented their fury on social media after two-goal hero Amad Diallo appeared to be fouled in the penalty area during the Red Devils’ Europa League 2-0 win over PAOK.

Amad was a bright spark for the hosts throughout the first half and thought he had given his side the perfect opportunity to score from the spot when he was forced to the floor by Baba Rahman inside the penalty area.

Yet, despite United’s appeals for a penalty, the referee waved play to continue — prompting uproar among Red Devils’ fans who swiftly took to social media to complain about the decision.

One furious fan posted on X: ‘HOW IS THIS NOT A PENALTY ON AMAD?’

Another added: ‘Even UEFA is against Manchester United How’s this not a penalty for Amad Diallo?’

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes appeared to sympathise with Diallo at half time, admitting that he had regularly seen those sorts of challenges given.

He said: ‘I think there’s a chance, you can see why it could be given. It looks like there’s contact there and if they went to VAR, I think there’s a good chance it’s given.’

TNT Sports host Jules Breach then clarified that the incident had been checked by VAR but that officials chose to stand by the original on-field decision.

The supporters’ anger was short-lived after the half-time break, however, as Amad netted a superb header to fire the Red Devils 1-0 ahead in the game.

Peeling away at the back post to meet a looping cross from Bruno Fernandes, the youngster leapt highest to cushion his header back across goal and into the net.

Fans were quick to heap praise on the 22-year-old winger on social media.

One wrote on X: ‘AMAD DIALLO!!!! STARBOY!’

A second posted: ‘When are we going to stop pretending Amad Diallo is good enough to play for us?’

Another hyperbolically added: ‘Amad Diallo is the GOAT!’

Amad’s night only got better from there, scoring a wonderful curling effort to double the hosts’ lead in the 77th minute.

Four minutes later he was substituted to a standing ovation from the Old Trafford crowd after turning the match on its head.

The winger will be delighted with his efforts in Greece ahead of the imminent arrival of new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, who is set to start his post over the upcoming international break.

Amad has started just four Premier League games so far this season and will be eager to play a more frequent role for the Red Devils after the Portuguese boss arrives at Old Trafford.

He will be hoping to start on Sunday afternoon when they host Leicester in the Premier League at 2pm.
