Greenwood’s United future remains unclear on the back of his arrest in 2022Charges were dropped, and he spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at GetafeIf this is the future I want no part in it… why are Spurs and Newcastle playing a post-season friendly in Melbourne!? – Listen to It’s All Kicking Off! podcast

Mason Greenwood has put his £2million Manchester mansion up for rent, according to a report.

The Manchester United forward, who has spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Getafe in Spain, was arrested in January 2022 after allegations of attempted rape and assault.

Charges were later dropped, but the now-22-year-old has not played for the Red Devils since and faces an uncertain future ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

It was ruled last year that it would be for the best for Greenwood to play away from United, leading to his move to LaLiga, but who will be his team next season remains to be seen.

One indication may have been given, however, with the forward, according to The Sun, putting his fully-furnished home up up for rent at £14,000-a-month.

The house is said to have six bedrooms, six bathrooms and is being circulated privately among high-end letting agents.

Located in Bowdon, Cheshire, it is said to have a games room, a gym, a home office, and is reportedly dubbed ‘the perfect family home’.

Greenwood, whose contract at United expires next summer, has been linked with a number of clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

He is thought to be earning just short of £80,000-a-week from the club, having put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half year deal in February 2021.

Greenwood’s move to Spain was widely criticised but he has been well-supported by Getafe and their fans since his arrival, while he has excelled on the pitch, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances for the LaLiga outfit.

According to The Athletic, Napoli have made contact with United over a potential move for the forward this summer.

Greenwood, meanwhile, is believed to want to test himself at a higher level next season, with this potentially including clubs competing in European competitions.

The report goes onto state that the Red Devils would prefer to sell Greenwood, but a second loan has not been ruled out if they are unable to receive a fee that they deem appropriate.

It is widely anticipated that Greenwood will never play for United again, but new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently hinted that the door was not completely closed.

Speaking in February at what was his first public appearance since the purchase of his minority stake in the club was confirmed, the British billionaire said: ‘He’s a Manchester United footballer so we are in charge of football.

‘So the answer is yes, we have to make decisions. It’s quite clear we have to make a decision. There is no decision that’s been made.’

It is reported that the house that has been put up for rent was Greenwood’s home when he reached the peak of his career with the Red Devils.

It is also said to be where he was ordered out of bed by detectives when he was arrested, and where he resided while he was waiting to find out if he would be charged, having denied the charges.

Earlier this month, the LaLiga match between Alaves and Getafe was briefly suspended after home fans inside the Mendizorrotza Stadium targeted Greenwood with offensive chanting calling for the player to ‘die’ just weeks after he was called a ‘rapist’ by Real Sociedad supporters.
