Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
Ugarte joined the Ligue 1 champions from Sporting CP last summer for £52million.
The holding midfielder, 23, made 37 appearances in all competitions last season and registered three assists.
He is currently at the Copa America with Uruguay and started in their opening match, a 3-1 win over Panama.
United’s interest has been reported by Sky Sports News.
Manchester United are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, 23
Ugarte, a Uruguay international, signed for PSG last summer from Sporting CP in a £52m deal
PSG beat Chelsea in an arms race for the young midfielder’s signature last summer and shelled out significant funds to secure him.
He is seen as a physical, aggressive midfielder with a strong desire to break up play.
A bonus for Manchester United is that despite Ugarte’s young age, he would arrive with 22 appearances in Europe under his belt and knockout-round experience in the Ccampions League.
However, he has not had the desired impact in Paris and L’Equipe reported last month that PSG had offered him to Juventus and AC Milan.
Luis Enrique’s side will be eager to recoup as much of the £52m they spent on him as possible.
Midfield is one of the priority areas for United this summer.
Casemiro is the subject of strong interest from Saudi Arabia and would need to be replaced if he left.

Manchester United are also seeking a striker and central defender in the transfer window
There are also doubts over the future of Christian Eriksen, with United reportedly willing to let him leave on a permanent transfer.
They are also looking for a striker and a central defender to replace Raphael Varane, who is seeking a new club after leaving behind a £340,000-per-week life in Manchester.
