A forgotten Manchester Untied flop has joined the 12th club of his career after ripping up his contract with his previous side.

The forward made a name for himself during his four-year stay at United for failing to break into the first team and making just a handful of appearances during his time at the club.

He was a shock signing for United in 2010 when he was plucked from relative obscurity in Portugal for a then-hefty £7.4million.

Incredibly, then-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he had never seen him play and that he only sanctioned the transfer due to a recommendation from his former assistant manager Carlos Queiroz.

After leaving United in 2014, Bebe went onto play for the likes of Benfica, Eibar and Real Vallecano – four times – though his stay with the latter came to an end last week and he now has yet another new club.

Now 34, he had spent the last five years with the Spanish club, making headlines again when he scored a stunning 30-yard free kick in the 2022 Copa del Rey semi-final.

His contract was, however, terminated last week to help the club reduce their wage bill.

He already has a new club, though, signing on the dotted line at Racing de Ferrol, also in Spain, and he will play in the second division.

The club, who have a stadium capacity of just under 12,000 and came 10th in the league last season, shared the news on their club website, boasting that Bebe has played 231 matches in Spanish football, including 162 in the top flight.

Bebe lived in a homeless shelter for eight years as a teenager, catching the eye of scouts at the European Street Foorball Festival and going onto forge a successful career.

Things did not work out at United, however, and he opened up on the ordeal in 2018.

‘Every day I called my agent to ask him to get me out,’ Bebe told GOAL. ‘It was a bad time.

‘When you do not play, even if you are at a great club, then you are not happy, so why continue?

‘I remember that I was going for a United game with the youth team, and my agent called me and told me I had been sold to Benfica. It was the best moment of my life.’

He made a total of seven appearances for United, scoring one goal, which came in the Champions League.
