Broadcasting icon Tim Lovejoy opened up on why he stopped paying for a Chelsea season ticket in the first episode of the Mail’s brand new podcast Soccer A-Z.

Speaking with former Soccer AM co-host Helen Chamberlain on the show, the presenter gave the three reasons behind his decision to give up going to watch the Blues.

Lovejoy then delved into his ’bout of depression’ and explained that going to football matches did not make him particularly happy with one trip to Anfield, where he received abuse from supporters, sticking particularly strongly in his mind.

All this means that the former Soccer AM presenter is currently a self-confessed ‘armchair fan’ as he now prefers sitting down to watch games on the television, citing Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand as being among the best pundits at the moment.

Each weekly episode of the podcast will be led by the alphabet and will include a variety of football-inspired challenges as dictated by the letter of the week, with a quiz incorporated into each adventure.
