Jurgen Klopp will be targeted by the German national team if he decides to step back into management.

Klopp left his post as manager of Liverpool back in May after a successful nine year spell in charge, having led the club to Champions League and Premier League triumphs.

The 57-year-old has been enjoying his time off, stating he needed a rest as he announced his decision at the start of the year.

Germany are currently managed by Julian Nagelsmann, whose contract runs until the end of the 2026 World Cup – but his is future unclear beyond that point.

The national team’s sporting director Rudi Voller says they will go after Klopp if the former decides to walk away and return to club management.

‘I don’t even know what Jurgen would like to do again. If Julian Nagelsmann were to decide at some point that he would rather coach a top club again – then of course there is no way around Jurgen Klopp. If he wants to,’ Voller told ZDF’s Aktuelle Sportstudio.

The latest offer to Klopp comes after he was previously identified as a potential candidate to replace Gregg Berhalter as manager of the USA national team.

Other high-profile names that were considered included Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Brentford manager Thomas Frank, ex-England manager Gareth Southgate and former Chelsea boss Graham Potter.

Although Klopp held initial talks over the job, he wasn’t willing to take up the job.

Former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino ended up being appointed.

It is said that USA official conducted ‘deep dives’ on each potential candidate to assess their playing styles.

Pochettino is said to have impressed chiefs during a four-hour meeting.

The USA were eager for a fresh start after being knocked out in the group stages of the Copa America. They will host the 2026 World Cup along with Canada and Mexico.
