Gio Reyna’s phenomenal performances in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals and finals will push the team forward to greater things in the Copa America this summer.
Reyna was named Best Player of the Tournament with one goal and a pair of assists in the semifinal and final match.
That included the second goal of the night – sealing a famous Dos a Cero scoreline and a third Nations League trophy.
‘I think it’s good for momentum,’ Reyna said. ‘I think we’ve been together with our core group for a while now, and I think we know what it takes to win big games and tournaments, and hopefully we can carry that in the Copa America and have a great run there, maybe even lift a trophy.
‘That’s a little bit far down the road, but I just want to enjoy tonight with the guys.’

Reyna said that the momentum from this tournament will push them for the Copa America
Reyna’s road to this moment hasn’t been the smoothest, but he’s enjoying the current moment.
‘The group of guys and the energy we have here, it’s amazing. I always love coming to camp.
‘I really mean it from the bottom of my heart, it’s a great group of guys, and they’re so great to work with and be around. I can’t really say much more. I’m lost for words right now, and it’s just an honor to play with these guys for my country.’
He also heaped praise on Tyler Adams, who made his first start for the USMNT in over 450 days due to injuries he sustained last year.
‘I love him to death. … I’ve had my tough moments through injuries a few years ago, so I know what it takes, and I know how hard it is.
‘I’m just so happy for him. He’s a great guy. He’s so important for the team… Obviously, as a player, you saw the performance he did tonight. Unfortunately, he was on minutes restriction. I would have loved that. I’m not there a bit more, but I just love him. I’m so happy for him.’
