Salomon Kalou played for Chelsea between 2006 and 2012, scoring 60 goals in 254 games
And now, Salomon Kalou has stepped out of retirement to play for SC Gagnoa, a club in Ivory Coast’s second-tier.
The former Ivory Coast international made a shock move to to Djibouti club Arta Solar 7 two years ago where he played alongside ex-Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder Alex Song.
Arta’s Ivorian chairman Tommy Tayoro Nyckoss took charge of SC Gagnoa last month and he has now convinced Kalou to join the club as a player and director.
Kalou said: ‘I am going to get a player’s licence, so that I can be part of coach Bernard Casoni’s squad.
‘And maybe if SC Gagnoa play against ASEC Mimosas or Africa Sports in the Ivorian Cup, I will take part in the game.’
SC Gagnoa suffered relegation from Ivory Coasts’s top division last season and will be keen to gain promotion this term.
