Anthony Martial has been approached by a second club over a potential move, according to a report.

Martial was released by Man United when his contract came to an end at the conclusion of last season.

The 28-year-old remains without a club, but had been linked with several during the summer transfer window. The Frenchman can join a club outside of any window as he is a free agent.

He had reportedly been offered the biggest contract offer in one club’s history, but, according to Fabrizio Romano, could now be heading to Brazil instead.

Reports suggest Flamengo have contacted the forward over an agreement after their star forward, Pedro, picked up an ACL injury this week in training with Brazil.

Martial is said to be considering a number of options for his future, but appears to be in no rush to make a decision.

Once regarded as one of the best young players in world football, the Frenchman got off to a flying start at United before falling down the pecking order, with injuries also hampering his progress.

In total, he made 317 appearances for the Manchester club, netting 90 times.

He joined the club from Monaco in 2015 for a fee which could have reached £58million with add-ons.

He scored 17 times during his debut campaign but proved frustratingly inconsistent towards the end of his Old Trafford career.

Martial’s best return in United colours came when he netted 23 times in 2019-20 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he struggled to replicate that form throughout the rest of his career at the Manchester club.

He also spent time on loan at Sevilla during the 2021-22 season, and has been capped 30 times by France.

According to Greek outlet SPORT24, meanwhile, AEK Athens are the potential record-breaking suitors for the forward, having made an approach within the last week.

AEK Athens are reported to have offered Martial the biggest contract in the club’s history in a bid to convince him to sign.

The offer reportedly surpasses the amount earned by the club’s current top earner, former Tottenham star Erik Lamela.

Lamela is reportedly on a deal worth a reported €2million (£1.7m) per year.

Martial would likely still be taking a sizeable pay cut should he decide to join AEK Athens, with the Frenchman having earned £250,000-a-week at Man United.
