A camera dedicated to Kylian Mbappe came back to bite as football fans took note of the Frenchman’s lapse in concentration proved costly in Real Madrid’s La Liga opener.

Madrid drew 1-1 in their La Liga opener away to Mallorca, with Mbappe tasked with leading the team’s three-pronged attack alongside Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

The contest marked Mbappe’s La Liga debut and such was the intrigue in how he’d perform, fans were able to watch every move of his via a dedicated ‘Mbappe Cam’.

However, the stream only served to highlight a moment Mbappe would rather forget.

Mallorca equalised from a corner in the 53rd minute via a bullet header from Kosovan striker Vedat Muriqu.

Unfortunately for Mbappe, his dedicated camera showed how easily he let Muriqu, who he was marking for the corner, escape his grasp.

The Frenchman quickly looks at Muriqu to see where his man is but then turns his back on the Mallorca striker and gets caught ball-watching.

Unbeknownst to Mbappe, Muriqu moves behind him and into space as he nods home a free header from Dani Rodriguez’s corner.

Mbappe could only stand and watch before walking away in frustration having let Muriqu go unchallenged for the header.

Fans wasted little time in sticking the boot into Mbappe on social media, with just about everyone describing his La Liga debut in the same way.

Mbappe moved to the Spanish giants on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain this summer and received a hefty signing bonus of £85.5million.

He made his competitive debut for Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup as he scored one of two goals to beat Atalanta 2-0.

Perhaps Mbappe could have got on the scoresheet against Mallorca had he and Madrid’s other attackers heeded the words of Jude Bellingham.

Post-match footage showed the England international telling Mbappe, Rodrygo and Vinicius they ‘must finish the attack’ by taking a shot rather than lose the ball, otherwise Bellingham is forced to expend his energy to track back and stop the transition.

In the post-match conversation captured by Movistar, the England international said: ‘You three, we need to finish the attack, because the running back… is f***ing hard.’

Agreeing with his new team-mate, Mbappe added: ‘That’s what I’m saying. We have to finish with something.’

Bellingham added: ‘Yeah, even… create a yard and [shoot].’
