Why is Chelsea vs Servette not on TV?

Despite being a European competition game, the tie will only be available to stream online.

This is because there are no TV rights for the play-off stage of the Europa League or Conference League in the UK. UK broadcasters only have the rights to show Champion League play-off games.

The reason for this is because only the league stage and onwards for the second and third tier European competitions are part of the European broadcast package for UK broadcasters.

However these play-off games can find their way onto TV screens, since the clubs involved are able to sell their broadcasting rights.

But the Blues have opted against this option, instead deciding to show both their play-off legs against Servette on their own website.
