Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is in a really good position, with the defender having entered the last year of his contract at Liverpool.
Like fellow Liverpool stars Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, Alexander-Arnold’s long-term future at Anfield is uncertain.
Redknapp suggested that at the age of 25, Alexander-Arnold is at the ideal stage in his career for a free transfer.
In addition, former Liverpool player Redknapp indicated that Real Madrid could be a possible destination for Alexander-Arnold.
Alexander-Arnold is close friends with England team-mate Jude Bellingham, who has established himself as a star for Real.

Redknapp claimed that Real Madrid could be a possible destination for Alexander-Arnold
Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said: ‘It’s difficult. With Trent, it’s the options he’s going to have. There’s Real Madrid that would cover him, he’s good friends with Jude Bellingham and I always feel that’s the dilemma for him.
‘He’s done everything you could possibly do, he’s won the Premier League, he’s won the Champions League. He’s an amazing young player, 25 years of age.’
Redknapp stated that Liverpool academy graduate Alexander-Arnold has a decision to make over whether he wants to be a one-club man.
Redknapp said: ‘What it will come down to, they should never really have got in this position in the first place. Then it’s a case of what do you want for the rest of your life? Jamie (Carragher) was a one-club man, Steven Gerrard, in the Premier League that is, does Trent want to stay here for the rest of his career or does he want to go and try something else?
‘If he wants to do that, Real Madrid when they come calling it’s very difficult for any player. Liverpool was my team, I had eleven years here. If he stayed here for the rest of his career it would be fantastic for him, the club, everybody.’

Redknapp added that Alexander-Arnold is in a position where he can take his time to make a decision regarding his future.
He said: ‘I also totally get that dilemma. He’s got himself in pretty much the dream position as a footballer. 25 years of age, one year left on your contract. He can see how this year goes, he can wait until Christmas. I’m sure there’s already some dialogue with other clubs, let’s not bury our head in the sand, that’s how it works.
‘He’s in a really good position. He’s an incredible player, there’s not many players in world football that can do what he can do. It will be interesting how it plays out, whereas the other players have probably got more of a difficult position because of their age, but his age is just perfect for a free transfer.’
Liverpool boss Arne Slot stated that it is up to Alexander-Arnold whether he wants to stay
New Liverpool boss Arne Slot suggested that it is up to Alexander-Arnold, van Dijk and Salah whether they want to stay at the club.
Slot said: ‘The only thing I can do is get the best out of them.
‘If we bring the best out of them and they perform really well then it’s up to them if they want to sign and us if we give them a new contract.
‘The main thing for all of them, if you’re out of contract or not, is to get the best performance as possible and there is where I should and will help them with my staff, to bring out the best of them. Until now it’s been nothing but positive.’
Alexander-Arnold has made 311 appearances for Liverpool and has scored 19 goals, while he has provided 81 assists.
He has won the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup and the League Cup with the Reds.
