Bayern Munich fans were left stunned after their club published on Monday a bizarre image of Matthijs de Ligt, who is set to leave the club.
The Dutch centre back turns 25 today and his current club wished him a happy birthday in a post on X.
However, some fans did not appreciate the German giants thoughtfulness, as De Ligt reportedly agreed to a deal over the weekend to move to Manchester United, where he will reunite with his former coach, Erik ten Hag.
Both De Ligt and his Bayern team-mate Noussair Mazraoui were seen at the Munich airport on Monday before completing their deals.
The Dutchman is reported to have cost United around £43m, including add-ons of £5m.

The Red Devils prioritized his signing throughout the transfer window, regardless of Leny Yoro’s recent injury.
After some rounds of negotiations over his transfer’s price and Wan Bissaka’s move to West Ham, United and Bayern agreed the deal.
The Dutchman spent two years in Munich and was a regular starter, with his departure discouraging and frustrating several supporters on the club’s post on X.
One said: ‘Kinda hurts… but yeah Happy Birthday,’ accompanied by a heart emoji.
A further fan wrote: ‘You guys can’t be serious,’ while another added: ‘Are you kidding us?’
Another supporter said in German: ‘Thanks for the salt in the wound,’ while other fans were more direct, writing: ‘Just f*** you.’
Meanwhile, Manchester United fans were more excited by their soon-to-be newcomer, with one supporter writing: ‘Thank you from all Manchester United fans.’
Another Red Devils supporter said: ‘His birthday gift is joining the mighty Manchester United.’
