Erik ten Hag has been brutally trolled by the commentator at WWE Smackdown, with speculation building that his time at Man United is nearly over.
It is widely thought that the Dutchman will be axed by the Red Devils after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City – regardless of the result at Wembley.
The speculation is a huge talking point across the sporting world – and has even made its way into the world of pro wrestling.
During Friday’s live Smackdown show, WWE commentator Wade Barrett made a dig at ten Hag’s expense as The Bloodline made their way into the ring.
The British announcer compared the Wiseman Paul Heyman’s current situation to the perilous future of the Red Devils manager.
It looks increasingly likely Erik Ten Hag will lose his job even if Man United win the FA Cup final
WWE commentator Wade Barrett made a quip on ten Hag as The Bloodline entered the ring
Barrett said: ‘Paul Heyman is basically The Bloodline’s answer to Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag. He’s still got a job, but for how much longer?’
The rumour mill suggests WWE Hall of Fame icon Heyman could be kicked out of The Bloodline after being sidelined, with Solo Sikoa in control.
Ten Hag’s position at Man United is similarly under scrutiny, and it seems likely that the club will move him on at the end of the season.
Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter are among the various names being linked to the Man United job.
Mail Sport understands Man United have spoken to Thomas Tuchel as well as representatives of Ipswich’s McKenna, who is also a target for Chelsea as they seek a successor for Pochettino after the two parties mutually split on Tuesday.
It is not the first time that Barrett has been involved in a Man United-related incident. In 2015, he mocked former Red Devils star Rooney during an episode of RAW, which led to the ex-England striker subsequently slapping him across the face.
