Bournemouth are closing on a deal for Juventus defender Dean Huijsen.

The South Coast club have agreed a £12.6million fee rising to £15m for the 6ft 5ins centre back who was on loan at Roma last season.

Stuttgart and Wolfsburg also made moves for the Dutch-born Spain U21 international but he is keen to work with Andoni Iraola and play in the Premier League.

The 19-year-old began his career at Costa United before moving to Malaga in 2015. He joined the Italian giants in 2018 and eventfully made his debut against AC Milan in October.

He made a total of 13 appearances for Daniele De Rossi’s side last season and scored two goals as finished outside the Champions League qualification spots in sixth.

A medical has been scheduled and Bournemouth are hopeful of wrapping the deal up.

The Cherries held Arsenal to a 1-1 draw in the second and final match of their pre-season tour of the United States on Wednesday night. Antoine Semenyo’s 73rd-minute effort cancelled out the earlier strike of Fabio Vieira.

The Gunners did however claimed the bragging rights in the contest after prevailing 5-4 in the subsequent penalty shoot-out.

Juventus will use the funds towards their bid to sign West Ham target Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice.
