Wrexham have announced the appointment of Michael Williamson – a former employee of Serie A champions Inter Milan – as the club’s new CEO.
The Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club are preparing for life in League One after securing their second promotion in as many seasons.
Williamson arrives at the Racecourse Ground having served in various roles at Inter, including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-CEO of San Siro Stadium.
His experience also includes time in MLS with DC United and David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
‘I am delighted to join Wrexham AFC after their impressive back-to-back promotions to League One,’ he said in a club statement. ‘I look forward to working with the dedicated management, staff, and players who have excelled since Rob and Ryan’s arrival in 2020.

‘As we plan for further growth and success on and off the pitch, we will prioritize maintaining our strong ties to the Wrexham community and our loyal fan base while enhancing our international appeal.’
Wrexham’s rise since their takeover by the Hollywood duo has been stark, two years after being the longest-tenured team in the fifth-tier of English football, they will find themselves only two divisions below the Premier League next term.
A third-consecutive promotion this high on the English football pyramid would be unprecedented. And Reynolds recently admitted that life in the third tier would provide fresh challenges.
‘Everyone’s celebrating and I have my head in my hands because it just turns into 800 emails about “Here’s what we have to do to be in League One,”‘ Reynolds said on TODAY programme. ‘Infrastructure, all these different things.’
