The Kane curse gets worse! England captain’s trophy hunt is dealt a HUGE blow for next season as Bayern Munich finish THIRD in the Bundesliga after final day defeat to Hoffenheim

Harry Kane’s search for a first trophy took a huge blow on Saturday afternoon Bayern Munich dropped down to third in the table after a final day defeat IAN LADYMAN: If I was a Spurs fan, I’d be worried about the way Ange Postecoglou is carrying himself – Listen to the It’s All Kicking Off! podcast

Harry Kane’s chances of winning a trophy next season have already been dealt a major blow after Bayern Munich finished third in the Bundesliga.

The England captain made the move to Germany in the hope of ending his career-long trophy drought however Bayern failed to win a single title in 2023-24.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were dumped out the DFB Pokal by third-tier FC Saarbrucken, knocked out the Champions League by Real Madrid and could do little to stop Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen winning the Bundesliga.

It’s the first time that Bayern Munich have failed to win a trophy since 2012 and Kane will be hopeful that next season, things will be different.

However, it appears he already faces an uphill battle after the Bavarian giants fell to a 4-2 defeat to Hoffenheim on the final day of the Bundesliga season.

The disappointing result means that Bayern finish the campaign in third place and, therefore, will miss out on a place in next season’s German Super Cup.

Saturday’s defeat saw them overtaken by Stuttgart – who moved one point ahead of Bayern after a 4-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on the final day.

Kane missed out on the match due to a back issue, which has also posed England a major injury scare ahead of the Euros next month.

Next season’s Super Cup will mark the first time that Bayern have not been involved in it since 2011 – where Schalke triumphed over Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern suffered a huge defeat in this year’s German Super Cup after a Dani Olmo hat-trick wrapped up a 3-0 victory for RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena.

After it was confirmed that they would not win a trophy during the campaign, Paddy Power poked fun at the forward by comparing Bayern to his old club Spurs.

The bookmakers unveiled a sign directly outside Bayern’s Allianz Arena declaring that the German club had been officially ‘twinned’ with Tottenham.

Kane joined the club for £100m last summer hoping to finally end his trophy drought however his struggles have seemed to continue in Germany.

Kane starred for Spurs across 13 seasons and won the golden boot on three occasions, but never managed to claim silverware as he finished as runner-up in the Carabao Cup final twice and the Champions League final.

Tottenham as a club have not won a trophy since winning the League Cup in 2008 after a 2-1 win against Chelsea.
