Football fans have heavily criticised Luis Enrique on social media for not fielding goalkeeper Keylor Navas for his final home match in PSG colours.
The French Champions collected their Ligue 1 crown on Sunday while bidding farewell to Kylian Mbappe who announced he would be leaving the club in the summer last week.
Mbappe was playing his final game at the Parc des Princes as a PSG player and captained the side as they were defeated 3-1 by Toulouse. He didn’t receive the warmest of goodbyes, but was still lauded by Enrique.
However, the same can not be said about Navas. In fact, Enrique wasn’t even aware that it was the keeper’s last home match for PSG.
‘I didn’t know it was his last match at the Parc,’ claimed Enrique.
Luis Enrique has been slammed as ‘pathetic by fans for not playing Keylor Navas in his final home game for PSG

Despite losing 3-1 to Toulouse, PSG had already won Ligue 1, so lifted the title after the game
Navas, who signed for the French side in 2019, announced his departure on Instagram prior to the match.
In an heartwarming statement, he said: ‘It has been an honour to defend this badge in this incredible stadium.
‘There are still objectives ahead but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to bid farewell to what has been my home.’
Much to most fans’ surprise, Enrique did not give Navas one last goodbye on the Parc des Princes turf, opting to start 22-year-old stooper, Arnau Tenas, instead.
Fans were quick to jump on the back of the PSG boss, on social media app X (formerly Twitter), after his decision to leave Navas out, despite the league already being won.
One posted: ‘That is just disgusting behavior from Enrique! Navas is such a great GK and deserves more respect!!’
Another wrote: ‘My goodness that response from a coach, so pathetic n really poor.’
Some fans even pointed to the fact that Enrique used to play for, and manage, Barcelona, while Navas spent five years at bitter rivals Real Madrid, even winning La Liga while his current boss was still in charge of the Catalan side.
A Real Madrid fan account stated: ‘Luis Enrique still sour because Navas owned europe for three years in a row with Real Madrid. Same story as when he didn’t nominate any RM player to spanish national team for the first time in its history and then went on to lose hard with his Pedri and Gavi.’
And a different user wrote: ‘Barca guy through and through.’
While Navas did not get the goodbye he would have wanted, he still achieved a lot during his time in Paris.
The Costa Rican keeper won three Ligue 1 titles and played 113 times for the club across all competitions.
