Donny van de Beek made the surprise decision not to attend Manchester United’s FA Cup triumph over Man City in favour of attending a music concert in his native Holland.
The Dutch midfielder is United’s forgotten man having spent the season on-loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Bundesliga team recently deciding not to take the option to make the deal permanent.
The original loan deal included an option-to-buy clause that allowed the German club to make his stay permanent for a fee of £9.5m plus an add-on fee of £2.6m
Van de Beek moved to Old Trafford in a £40m move from Ajax four-years ago under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but has failed to live up to the potential that he arrived in England boasting.
United are expected to to do everything possible to secure Van de Beek’s permanent departure in the summer, but the 27-year-old was still a surprise omission at Wembley on Saturday.

Van de Beek instead headed to a music concert in Amsterdam and shared a snap of himself enjoying the atmosphere
Despite only making two appearances in all competitions for United this season – a Premier League defeat by Crystal Palace and a League Cup win over the Eagles – Van de Beek was still widely-expected to be in attendance for the FA Cup final.
Instead, the midfielder opted to head to a music concert in Amsterdam at the home of his former club Ajax – the Johan Cruijff Arena – and shared a snap of himself at the event.
Van de Beek appears to be in attendance at the event ‘Toppers In Concert – Club Tropicana Edition’ and beamed as he posed for a photo while dressed in a blue shirt and white trousers.
The Dutch band describes the event on their website as ‘the ultimate Summer Beach Party’ with their being a set dress code consisting of ‘coconut white with a tropical twist’.

Tickets for the event were still available in the build-up to the show and going for as little as £2 in the hours before the concert got underway.
Another career blow for Van de Beek also saw him not included in Holland’s 30-man provisional squad for the upcoming European Championship.
Meanwhile, United’s FA Cup title celebrations were well underway in London after they secured an impressive victory over derby rivals Man City.
