Mourinho’s selection comes just after he acquired a four-match European ban for his abuse of referee Anthony Taylor next Roma’s defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League final.

Addressing UEFA, Mourinho mentioned: ‘the problems which I so strongly considered in when I joined are no extended standing’.

As described by The Athletic, Mourinho sent a letter to UEFA chief of soccer Zvonimir Boban, who is chair of the board.

Mourinho’s letter read: ‘In thanking you for the invitation you extended to me to be a member of the UEFA football board, I regret to notify you that, helpful right away, I will be renouncing my participation in this group.

‘The conditions which I so strongly considered in when I joined are no extended standing and I felt the obligation to consider this conclusion.

‘I kindly inquire that you also talk my conclusion to the President Mr. Aleksander Ceferin.’ 

Mourinho was furious with some of the choices that Taylor built during the final and gained a yellow card throughout the game, whilst seven Roma gamers were booked.

Just after his side’s defeat on penalties Mourinho confronted Taylor in the auto park.

‘F***ing shame man, it can be a f***ing shame,’ Mourinho fumed, right before switching to swear at the formal in Italian. ‘F*** off,’ he continued.
