Real Betis vs Manchester United (1-4)

The first leg gave the Red Devils a degree of redemption as an unchanged team from the 7-0 debacle against Liverpool cruised to victory at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford gave United the ideal start on the night with a goal in the sixth minute, but Betis fought back when on loan Leicester City winger Ayoze Perez drilled in from the edge of the area before half-time.
Antony eased any anxiety at the start of the second half with a superb left-footed effort, before Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst responded to the heavy criticism they faced after the loss to Liverpool by adding United’s third and fourth on the night. Weghorst was able to celebrate an emotional first Old Trafford goal since arriving on loan in January.
Ten Hag opted to give Facundo Pellistri a late cameo in the victory and the Dutchman could be tempted for wholesale changes on Thursday, with the tie looking comfortable and a packed fixture list ahead.
Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis will hope to put on an improved showing in front of their home fans to show why they are currently fifth in La Liga. The tie is surely beyond the Spanish side though.

The narrow victory came amid news Paul Pogba had been left out for disciplinary reasons after being late for a team meeting. Pogba and Di Maria were both absent from Juve’s 4-2 win over Serie A strugglers Sampdoria on the weekend due to injury.
Pogba is expected to be out for three weeks, while Di Maria is crucially expected to be fit to face Freiburg.

The result comes despite Sevilla’s dismal domestic campaign, which has seen the European regulars battling against relegation. Lamela scored the winner in a 2-1 success against Almeria at the weekend lifting Sevilla to 13th in La Liga, but just two points above the relegation zone.
Progression in the Europa League could further ease pressure on coach Jorge Sampaoli.
